Fed: Branson Rocks into Sydney with $16m flat
SYDNEY, Aug 18 AAP - British tycoon Richard Branson has reportedly paid a record $16
million for an apartment in Sydney's The Rocks area.
The Virgin founder is believed to have bought the luxury apartment in the Harry Seidler-designed
Cove development, The Australian Financial Review reported today.
Forget about spending a penny - the apartment has five toilets costing $14,000 each.
According to the newspaper, the flat has a 12-seat dining floor that revolves every
30 minutes and is protected by fingerprint and retina-scan security.
The paper said the price exceeded the previous record paid for an Australian flat,
achieved when Sydney radio broadcaster John Laws and his wife, Caroline, paid almost $15
million for an apartment at Woolloomooloo Wharf in May.
Sir Richard's office could not be reached yesterday for comment, the paper said.
